Kalahari Visions
Images from a desert
The Kalahari Desert is a natural gem. A huge undisturbed semi-desert, a wilderness, where cheetahs, black-maned lions, and other predators are hunting in a sea of dunes. Beautiful light, red sand, and magnificent wildlife come together to create a world beyond the imaginable. Our photographic project titled ’Kalahari visions – images from a desert’ is a visual and engaging celebration of this unique area.
The main reason for this project is that we instantly fell in love with the desert and its inhabitants on our first visits. The incredible ever-changing light and the illusion of the sand touching the sky on an endless horizon inspires to subtle and personal images and engaging lyrics.
Naturally, we also want to bring attention to this part of the world, in the outback of human civilisation. With its fragile ecosystem threatened by upcoming oil-fracking, tourism overexploitation and the alienation of the San people it needs all the attention it can get.
The main goal of the project is at first a lavishly illustrated book, where part of the income will go directly to nature-conservation in projects related to the Kalahari ecosystem. In conjunction with the book there will also be an exhibition, a short film and a number of inspiring talks.
Please join us on a dusty but unforgettable journey into an African wonderland.
